PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a music data recording and reproducing device not requiring a high performance processor by making high-speed processing unnecessary when ripping a portable medium such as a CD and capable of reproducing easily the original high quality music and appropriately recording the data on the HDD matching the user's music listening environments when ripping. SOLUTION: In this music data recording and reproducing device 1, the music data from a CD player module 6 are processed as non-compressed digital signals in the CD signal processor 7. Those processed signals are recorded in the non-compressed music data recording area Ao of the HDD 4 by the HDD signal processor 18, and also converted into analog signals in the DA converter 8 to output as a music from the loudspeaker 12. Then, if the music reproduction from the loudspeaker 12 is stopped while the CD player module 6 is operating, only the music data are continuously recorded on the HDD 4. In this case, the music data from the CD player module 6 can be recorded on the HDD 4 at high speed since neither tone quality processing nor compression processing is not performed.
