PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image having less color shift by suppressing vibration of a light emitting optical system. SOLUTION: A scanning optical apparatus 16 includes a light emitting optical system 44 for emitting a luminous flux, an optical deflector 23 for applying polarization scanning to the luminous flux 3, an image forming lens 20 for forming an image of the luminous flux 3 at a prescribed position, and an optical box 29 in which they are assembled. The apparatus 16 is characterized in that fixing sections 50, 51, 52 for fixing the optical box 29 are installed in three places, and that a prescribed fixing section 52 among them is arranged on the side of the light emitting optical system 44 from the optical axis A of the image forming lens 20 and arranged in a region between the optical deflector 23 and the light emitting optical system 44.
