PURPOSE:To prevent an active material from peeling off and increase the energy density, i.e., capacity, by specifying the porosity after being assembled in a cell and charged and discharged and the combination ratio of metal cobalt powder against nickel hydroxide within a specific range. CONSTITUTION:The porosity after being assembled in a cell and charged and discharged is set to 18-35vol.%, and metal cobalt powder is combined at 5-25wt.% against nickel hydroxide. Thereby, the balance between the bulk density of nickel hydroxide and the utilization factor depending on the diffusivity of an electrolyte and the degree of binding in an active material itself or between the active material and a conductor serving as an electron carrier is kept satisfactory. The energy density proportional to the product of the bulk density and the utilization factor, i.e., capacity, can be improved, and moreover the active material can be prevented from peeling off from a conductive core body. |
