The method involves converting measuring value or control value information (100) from a representation (110) to another representation (130), where each of the representations is mechanical or numeric. Hysteresis effect developed during conversion of the representation is prognostically compensated, where a preset hysteresis correcting value is added or subtracted to/from the information for compensating the effect.
