<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle detection device for precisely detecting other vehicle around an own vehicle. <P>SOLUTION: This vehicle detection device 4 for detecting other vehicle around the own vehicle based on a pickup image is provided with a wheel detection means 42 for detecting the wheels of the other vehicle around; and an other vehicle detecting means 42 for detecting the other vehicle based on the fact that the components of the vehicle exist between two wheels detected by the wheel detecting means. The other vehicle is detected based on the fact that the components of the vehicle exist by the other vehicle detecting means so that it is possible to prevent the two wheels belonging to the different vehicles from being erroneously determined as the wheels belonging to the same vehicle.
