PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically recognize replacement of a package to a network device and perform rewriting of package information. SOLUTION: Network devices 110-1 to 110-N are equipped with slots 111-1 to 111-m and each slot can accommodate packages 112-1 and 112-2. Each of the packages stores package information including a type of the package concerned, a serial number and a revision in the internal memory. Each network device records extraction and insertion of the package from/to the slot as a extraction log and an insertion log. A package information management apparatus 130 performs patrol and monitoring of each network device, reads the extraction log and the insertion log, and determines whether the package concerned is replaced or not.
