PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a production method where general purpose production equipment can be utilized, and metal fibers can be produced at low cost without depending on a throughput. SOLUTION: A mixing stage I where metal powders M and the powders P of a fiber forming medium are mixed, so as to obtain a mixture MP; a drawing stage III where the mixture MP is drawn, so as to obtain a molding G; and a fiber forming medium removing stage IV where the fiber forming medium is dissolved away from the molding G are successively practiced. As the drawing, rolling and extrusion can be used. By mixing the metal powders M and the powders P of the fiber forming medium and performing the extrusion or rolling, in accordance with the dispersed state of the metal powders, the individual metal powders or a plurality of the coupled metal powders are drawn in a state of being surrounded by the fiber forming medium, and the fiber forming medium is present between the metal fibers in the meanwhile and disturbs the coupling of the metal fibers each other, thus the metal fibers are present in an independent state.
