PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an elevator main cable detachment preventive device capable of checking and adjusting the space between a main cable and a main cable detachment preventive unit singly by the main cable detachment preventive device, and simplifying the installation and maintenance works. SOLUTION: The elevator main cable detachment preventive device 4 comprises a rotating body 1, a groove 1a formed in a rotating circumferential surface of the rotating body 1, a main cable 2 which is engaged with the groove 1a and wound around the rotating body 1, a detachment preventive unit 6 facing the main cable 2 on the rotating circumferential surface of the rotating body 1, and a supporting device 7 for supporting the detachment preventive unit 6 in an axially rotating and fixing manner. The detachment preventive unit 6 is supported in a movable and fixing manner at the position in contact with or not in contact with the main cable 2 by the axially rotating and fixing support of the supporting device 7.
