Body protector comprises an anatomically shaped laminate comprising an outer layer of impact-absorbing breathable foam or a foam- or fluid-filled cushion material and an inner layer of air-permeable and breathable spacer fabric. Independent claims are also included for: (1) producing a body protector by glueing foam to a knitted spacer fabric, heating the laminate to a temperature between the deformation temperature of the foam and that of the spacer fabric, cooling the laminate and shaping the product; (2) producing a body protector by filling a cushion material with a fluid and bonding it to a spacer fabric.
