PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem such that a life time of a battery is shortened because a short circuit of a positive and negative electrode plates is apt to arise, by accelerating oxidization deterioration by contacting of a base portion of a separator to the positive electrode plate as a result of application of a strong stress to a group of electrode plates by case ribs provided on an internal wall of a cell, when corrosion of the positive electrode plate is advanced in a lead-acid storage battery. SOLUTION: The lead-acid battery is provided in which any one of a positive electrode plate or a negative electrode plate provided with an expanded lattice body is housed in a bag-shaped separator 203 made of microporous polyethylene, a plurality of linear ribs 203b are provided on a surface opposing to a positive electrode plate surface 204 of the bag-shaped separator in a vertical direction, and a height of case ribs 302 provided on an internal wall 301 parallel to the electrode plate surfaces of a cell 207 housing a group 205 of the electrode plates in a vertical direction is set to that of the linear ribs or less.
