PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of a glow plug capable of suppressing the deterioration of quality such as a short-circuit defect and the evacuation of power distributing performance. SOLUTION: A first intermediate shaft 8 having an insertion portion 8c capable of being inserted into an inserted portion 5b of a heat generation coil 5 at its tip is prepared, and a first glow plug intermediate body 10 having an overlapped portion 10a by inserting the insertion portion 8c of the first intermediate shaft 8 into the inserted portion 5b of the heat generation coil 5 is obtained in a first process. Then electric power is distributed to electrodes 81, 82 in a state of radially holding the overlapped portion 10a by the electrodes 81, 82, and thus the insertion portion 8c of the first intermediate shaft 8 and the inserted portion 5b of the heat generation coil 5 are welded to form a welded portion 10b. Here, the welded portion 10b is formed in a state that the heat generation coil 5 not welded to the insertion portion 8c of the first intermediate shaft 8 by more than 1/2 lap exists between the tip C1 of the welded portion 10b and the tip A1 of the overlapped portion 10a.
