PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a refrigerator of high usability capable of being inexpensively manufactured by easily placing a vacuum heat insulating material, in the refrigerator wherein a freezing space and a refrigerating space are separated right and left. SOLUTION: The freezing space 12 of a freezing temperature zone and the refrigerating space 14 of a refrigerating temperature zone are separated right and left by a vertical partitioning wall 16 as a heat insulating partitioning wall, a machine chamber 74 provided with a compressor 70 is formed at a back lower portion of one of the freezing space 12 and the refrigerating space 14, a horizontal partition 32 is disposed at a vertical central portion of the refrigerating space 14, a refrigerating compartment 34 comprising a plurality of shelves is formed at an upper side of the horizontal partition 32, upper and lower refrigerating compartments of two stages composed of an upper refrigerating compartment 36 and a lower refrigerating compartment 38 are formed at a lower side of the horizontal partition 32, and inside temperatures of both refrigerating compartments 36, 38 can be independently adjusted.
