PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel hanging mechanism realizing a stable lifting/lowering operation by mitigating a change in an operation force required for the lifting/lowering operation of a rack; and a lifting storage device formed by having the hanging mechanism. SOLUTION: This rack hanging mechanism in the lifting storage device is so constituted that a rack disposed in an outside casing is vertically lifted/lowered; and is characterized in comprising a string-shaped member for hanging the rack, a drum member for winding the string-shaped member, and an elastic member for giving an energizing force to the lifting/lowering operation of the rack according to the rotation of the drum member, and especially using a variable torque drum continuously or stepwisely reducing the winding radius of the string-shaped member, as the drum member.
