PURPOSE:To obtain the titled material having the high sensitivity and the excellent graininess and the high image quality by incorporating a compd. capable of scavenging an oxidation product by allowing a silver halide emulsion layer to react with the oxidant of a developing main agent or a compd. capable of releasing the precursor of said compd., in the titled material. CONSTITUTION:The silver halide particle contd. in the silver halide emulsion layer has the mean particle size of >=0.81mum, and the titled material contains the compd. capable of scavenging the oxidation product by allowing the silver halide emulsion layer to react with the oxidant of the developing main agent or the compd. capable of releasing the precursor of said compd., shown by formula I. In the formula, Coup is a coupler residual group capable of releasing SC by reacting with the oxidant of the color developing agent, SC is a scavenger of said oxidant capable of scavenging by an oxidation-reduction reaction or a coupling reaction of said oxidant, after releasing from the group Coup.
