Disclosed is a phenyl-aza-benzimidazole compound of the supragenus A, B, C or D wherein: Q, T, X and Z are independently selected from N or C, and one of Q, T, X and Z is N; A is selected from the group consisting of H, halogen and CONHR1; n is a number from one to four; L and M are independently selected from the group consisting of H, alkyl, alkoxy, aryl, substituted aryl, hydroxy, halogen, amino, alkylamino, nitro, cyano, CF3, OCF3, CONH2, CONHR and NHCOR1; R is selected from the group consisting of H or optionally substituted alkyl, cycloalkyl, polycyclic aliphatic groups, phenyl, naphthyl and heteroaryl containing 1-3 heteroatoms selected from N, O or S; and R1 and R2 are as defined in the specification. Compounds of the type disclosed are small molecule inhibitors of the IgE response to allergens and inhibitors of cell proliferation. As such they are useful in the treatment of allergies and asthma, and in the treatment of cancer and hyperproliferation disorders.
