A portable information terminal of the present invention is used with an IC card 10, the portable information terminal includes a housing forming the portable information terminal main body, a circuit board 20 disposed in the housing, and a connector 18 which is provided with a plurality of connection terminals 19 connected to the circuit board 20 and which is formed to define a groove for storing an information card 10. The plurality of connection terminals 19 are arranged on a lateral wall of the connector 18 in such a manner that the connection terminals 19 contact with a plurality of connection terminals of the information card 10.
