The cooking apparatus has a heating element (6) to burn up organic residue in the exhaust gas, in the form of a tubular radiator (10) with at least one spiral fin (11). At least the heating element is fitted in a tubular sector (9) of the exhaust channel (5). The clear internal diameter of the tubular sector basically corresponds to that of the heating element.
