The implant (1) is assembled of two outer elements (11, 12) and a central core (10). The outer elements (11, 12) are provided with toothed outer surfaces (17) and flanges (16) at the front secured with a locking pin (15). A central rib (18) to be engaged with a matching recess in the vertebrae protrudes from each of the surfaces (17). The recesses are created with a tool assembled of a handle and a front part matching the dimension of the implant (1). A rotating cutting device with at least two cutting teeth is accommodated inside the front part.
