Plant for composting refuse comprises inter alia at least one piece of break-up machinery 7, 9 for slitting open packaging containing refuse, and at least one rotary homogenizing drum 13, 14 attached to the break-up machinery, with at least one dismantling appliance 34 for dismantling of matted- and/or glued-together parts of the destroyed packaging and of the refuse resulting from the homogenizing process. In order to achieve a design of break-up machinery which offers safe and reliable feed of the packaging and refuse into the homogenizing drum only after the required packaging destruction has been carried out, and in order to design and arrange the dismantling appliance or appliances in the homogenizing drum so that the formation of matted- and/or glued-together parts of packaging and refuse during homogenizing is prevented as far as possible, the break-up machinery 7, 9 consists of a rotary drum 10 which is coupled to the homogenizing drum 13, 14. In addition, there is a guide device 11 fixed in the drum 10 which is designed first to guide the packaging towards a shredding unit 12 fixed on the guide device 11 to slit open the said packaging, and after that to guide the destroyed packaging and refuse towards the homogenizing drum 13, 14. There is also a stop device 24 in the region of the shredding unit 12 to prevent feeding of packaging and refuse into the homogenizing drum 13, 14, while the dismantling appliance 34 in the homogenizing drum 13, 14 consists of one or several elongate, bar-shaped parts 34a, 34b which run basically at right angles to the longitudinal direction of the homogenizing drum 13, 14, and through or near the axis of rotation B of the drum 13, 14. <IMAGE> |
