Identifying and quantifying the micro-organisms useful in processes of biomining industry, comprises: extracting the DNA from sample; quantifying the extracted DNA; optionally performing a primary polymerization chain reaction (PCR) with universal starters for the domains Bacteria and/or Archaea, to amplify a genome region; performing quantitative PCR (qPCR), while employing the extracted DNA or the amplified product and the specific starters for each taxon to be determined, as sample matrix; and calculating the number of micro-organisms in each of analyzed taxons.
