A torso-shape controlling, lower back supporting garment that comprises a garment having control fabric panel portions (11, 18, 19, 26, 27, 42, 43) adapted to extend in waist shape controlling relation to the torso front, ba ck and sides; the control fabric panel portions (11, 18, 19, 26, 27, 42, 43) including zones (12, 13, 20, 21) positioned to be generally rigid at the tor so front and back to yieldably and resiliently stretch generally horizontally a t the torso sides, whereby support is provided at the lower back, and an hourglass torso shape at the waist is produced; and auxiliary structure (49) extending in proximity to certain of said first control fabric panel portion s (11, 18, 19, 26, 27, 42, 43) to enhance the waist shape controlling functioning.
