APPARATUS FOR FABRICATING SOOT PREFORM

An apparatus for fabricating a soot preform is provided to enhance reaction efficiency of raw materials by forming a complex structure with a clad burner and a core burner. A core burner includes a plurality of tubes and a plurality of ports formed by aligning coaxially the tubes. The core burner includes a main nozzle(330) for injecting raw materials including glass forming materials through the ports in order to form a core(322) of a soot preform(320). A clad burner(340) includes a plurality of tubes and a plurality of ports formed by coaxially aligning the tubes. The clad burner forms a clad(324) of the soot preform by injecting the raw materials including the glass forming materials through the ports. The core burner further includes an auxiliary nozzle(350) arranged at one side of the main nozzle in order to control a refractive index of a boundary between the core and the clad.
