A portable terminal for controlling message forwarding at a receiving client and a method therefor are provided to enable a transmission client to limit forwarding of a message to be transmitted, at the receiving client for receiving the message, thereby protecting a user's privacy as enhancing security of the message. A transceiver(110) transceives multimedia message data. A storage(120) stores a multimedia message. A controller(130) sets a predetermined field value for limiting a message forwarding function in a WAP(Wireless Application Protocol) PDU(Packet Data Unit) by operation setup for limiting the message forwarding function when the multimedia message is transmitted.
