A height adjusting device of a desk or a chair is provided to improve an assembly of a lower support and an upper support by connecting the upper support to the lower support at the same time. The height adjusting device includes a lower ring(110) engaged to an upper portion of a lower support(10) which supports the ground, an upper ring(120) which is coupled with the lower ring and an upper support(20) and moves along the lower support, an engaging portion(130) fixedly engaging the lower ring to an upper end portion of the lower support, a height adjusting portion(140) having a height adjusting groove(143) formed on a frame(142) at regular intervals and a height adjusting boss(142) for fixing a position of the upper support, and a separating portion for maintaining an operation state of the height adjusting portion.
