FIELD: powder metallurgy, namely production of niobium powder, possibly used manufacture of capacitors and electronic devices. ^ SUBSTANCE: niobium powder for making capacitors contains at least one element selected from group including nitrogen, carbon, boron, sulfur and it has bulk density 0.5 - 2.5 g/ml. Powder is produced by activation treatment of initial niobium powder or niobium material. Sintered material for making capacitors is produced from prepared niobium powder by sintering or extrusion.
