A method of transporting and cleaning roots and tubers and a device to carry out thereof are used while carrying out the mechanization of farm production for improving the quality (for 10...15%) and productivity (1.2...1.5 times) of cleaning the roots and tubers from dirt. For this purpose a root and tuber heap is passed through a destroyer of solid soil additives prior to agitating and cleaning thereof. Under the outlet end of a feeding table, inside an agitator, the U-shaped destroyer of solid soil additives, immovable relative to the latter is mounted, this consists of driving beater rollers, the blades of which are arranged on driving axles in the staggered order and are made of an elastic material. The ends of these axles are connected between each other by mechanisms of changing and fixing position thereof relative to each other in transversal and vertical plane. Directions of rotation of the rollers forming each inclined U-shaped part are forwarded upwards, and the lower pair moves in a counterrotational direction.
