<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide holding seal material having large tensile strength in a direction of wrapping to an exhaust treating body and excellent in handleability in incorporation into an exhaust gas treating device. <P>SOLUTION: In sheet material used in the holding seal material for holding the exhaust gas treating body and containing inorganic fibers, the inorganic fibers have predetermined orientation angles except a direction parallel to a thickness direction of the sheet material. In the sheet material in which the fibers have the predetermined orientation angles, strength to tensile stress in a direction perpendicular to the thickness direction of the sheet material can be increased. By using such sheet material in the holding seal material of the exhaust gas treating device, the holding seal material can be prevented from cracking or breaking caused when wrapping it to the exhaust gas treating body. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
