<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printing plate which is free from a smudge generated in a non-image defining line part over printing time, even in a long-term printing operation and has a hydrophilic layer composed mainly of a resin, and a photosensitive resin composition to be used for the printing plate. <P>SOLUTION: This lithographic printing original plate has the hydrophilic layer formed directly on a substrate or through another layer, the hydrophilic layer being formed mainly of an organic compound.
