PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To mount a mechanical seal device even to a small mounting position by miniaturizing a mounting part of the mechanical seal device, and to facilitate the mounting and disassembling of the mechanical seal device. SOLUTION: The mechanical seal device is provided with a rotation seal ring (10) mounted to a shaft so as to be sealable and having an opposed seal surface (10A); a fixed seal ring (3) having a seal surface (3A) closely contacting with and sealing the opposed seal surface (10A) of the rotation seal ring (10) and having an inner peripheral surface (8) around the shaft; and a seal cover (30) having a coupling part (35) for retaining the fixed seal ring (3) so as to be sealable to a fitting surface and capable of being joined to the hole forming surface (60A) of a housing.
