PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hollow fiber membrane module which enables an assured discharge of contamination materials among fiber bundles of the hollow fiber membranes outside the module by cleaning with an air bubbling method, and enables a continuation of filtering operation stably for a long period, particularly, even in a large-sized module also. SOLUTION: The hollow fiber membrane module of one end water collecting type wherein both ends of the hollow fiber membrane are potting-fixed with an adhesive is provided. The hollow fiber membrane has an outer diameter reduced portion 3 at one end portion, and a difference between a potting upper end fixing portion 12 and a potting lower end fixing portion 13 of the hollow fiber membrane is 1.1-2 times in filling factor.
