<p>An electrode joint is presented, the joint including two joined graphite electrodes and having a locking ring (10) interposed between the electrodes, the locking ring (10) composed of a material having an oxidation rate equal to or less than that of the electrodes. The locking ring (10) has a friction layer (30) on at least one of the contact surfaces thereof.</p>
