<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a centrifugal air blower which can prevent flow interference in the vicinity of a bell-mouth so as to reduce aerodynamic noise, and air-conditioning equipment including the centrifugal air blower. <P>SOLUTION: In the centrifugal air blower, an axial height of a side wall 12 on the side of a suction hole 5 of a scroll casing 1 is gradually increased in a direction of rotation of an impeller from a tongue portion 8. On the other hand, the bell-mouth 2 forming the suction hole 5 is constituted as a wall surface continuous with the side wall 12 and a curvature radius of an arcuate portion is increased in proportion to the increase of the axial height of the side wall 12. With the above structure, the height position of the arcuate portion of the bell-mouth 2 is displaced upwardly from the suction hole 5 by an amount of increase of the axial height of the side wall 12, and a high-speed region S formed inside the arcuate portion moves upwardly away from the suction hole 5. As a result, mutual interference between the high-speed flow in the region S and the suction flow from the bell-mouth 2 is prevented as much as possible and the flow from the bell-mouth 2 to the side of the suction hole 5 becomes smooth so that the aerodynamic noise can be reduced. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
