<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To input characters necessary for a camera by handwriting and to display the characters as clear block letters in an image of the camera even though there is the problem that characters are difficult to read in the case of poor characters in the conventional signature input camera in which character information is handwritten. <P>SOLUTION: A camera main body is provided with a storage element of a computer that stores block letters of each language, such as Chinese character, hiragana, katakana and English, and a camera 1 is provided with a touch panel 4. When an on/off button 11 is switched on, required character information is inputted on a touch panel surface by a touch pen 16 by a handwriting input method during photographing and a button of Chinese character or the like on a monitor is pressed down, the handwritten input character information is transferred to the storage element, and the storage element recognizes the character information and converts the handwritten input into block letters for display.
