PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotation-linear motion actuator and a variable valve train of an engine capable of effectively converting rotation motion to linear motion. SOLUTION: This actuator 7 is provided with a rotation-linear motion conversion mechanism 8 for converting the input rotation motion to the linear motion and outputting it, and a motor 1 for inputting the rotation motion to the motion conversion mechanism 8. The rotation-linear motion conversion mechanism 8 is provided with a ring shaft 82 making rotation motion through the motor 71, a plurality of planetary shafts 83 making planetary motion through the rotation motion of the ring shaft 82, and a sun shaft 81 making linear motion through the planetary motion of the planetary shaft 83.
