PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an engine automatic stop and start system capable of inhibiting deterioration of controllability in an electric motor for driving auxiliaries in conjunction with engine start. SOLUTION: The automatic stop and start system 10 for an internal combustion engine, which has an electric start means 21 for starting the internal combustion engine with electric power and performs idle stop control for stopping the internal combustion engine 20 when a vehicle is stopped, is characterized in that it comprises the electric motor for driving on-vehicle equipment other than the internal combustion engine and a storage means 30 for supplying electric power to the electric start means 21 and the electric motor and stops the electric motor prior to restart of the internal combustion engine after idle stop.
