PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical module having superior optical characteristics in which influence of contamination is reduced. SOLUTION: The optical module includes a photoelectric element array 13 having a plurality of photoelectric elements that transmit or receive optical signals, a substrate 11 on which the photoelectric element array 13 is arranged, and a connection terminal 15 for optically coupling with an optical waveguide array that propagates the optical signals, wherein a transparent case 14 is provided on the substrate 11 so as to cover the photoelectric element array 13, the connection terminal 15 is formed in the case 14, and in the case 14 serving as an optical path between the photoelectric element array 13 and the optical waveguide array, lenses 16, 17 are formed integrally with the case 14.
