PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide new dispersion apparatus and method which enable a uniform dispersion (finel granulation) of a liquid material containing a flocculation/dispersion content with an actuating force. SOLUTION: In this processing apparatus, the dispersion content in the liquid material is granulated/dispersed or mixed/covered, or the like without using crushing bodies (media). The apparatus has an outer cylindrical member 16 and an inner cylindrical member 18 which are concentrically disposed, and at least one of which is driven rotated. The space between the inner peripheral wall 16a of the outer cylindrical member 16 and the outer peripheral wall 18a of the inner cylindrical member 18 is formed with annular minute gaps through which the liquid material is passable, so as to be an annular processing zone 34. One end side of the annular processing zone 34 has a communication passage 36 for supplying raw materials, and the other end side has a communication passage 38 discharging products. The annular processing zone 34 allows the liquid material such as slurry to pass through to granulate the dispersion content, so as to make it a uniform dispersion system.
