PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for treating oil-containing waste water such as bilge waste water at a value not more than a guideline value established in the Water Pollution Control Law by an efficient and economical method, and an apparatus. SOLUTION: The bilge waste water is treated by a cloth made of the non-woven fabric of a chemical fiber such as polyester and activated carbon produced when a disposal tire is burned, thereby efficiently separating a polluted substance such as an oil content, a suspended n-hexane extract, COD and SS in the bilge waste water to remove them efficiently and economically.
