PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a four-cycle engine with an internal EGR system, which can obtain stable combustion performance and exhaust gas purification performance by reducing the effect to a sub-lift of a suction valve or an exhaust valve resulting from the following reasons even when the manufacturing error occurs in a valve train of the suction valve or the exhaust valve, or the looseness occurs in the valve train of the suction valve or the exhaust valve owing to the deterioration with time, and making the uniform internal EGR. SOLUTION: In the four-cycle engine with the internal EGR system comprising two suction valves or exhaust valves per cylinder, a main lift or the sub-lift is formed in one side of a separate suction cam or exhaust cam to drive each suction valve or exhaust valve, and only the main lift is formed in the other side of the suction cam or the exhaust cam.
