PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driving method for preventing display unevenness and improving response, in a display device including particles between electrodes, such as an electrophoretic display device, or a toner display. SOLUTION: Before applying a writing waveform, a reset waveform is applied to initialize spacial positions of particles (hereafter referred to as a reset state), wherein the most suited reset waveform is defined by referring to the previous state of pixels in the reset waveform application. In this case, response is optimized by utilizing the fact that adsorption force between the particles and a wall depends on a pressing voltage and a pressing time period. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
