PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve piping cleaning capacity of an engine-driven type heat pump. SOLUTION: The engine-driven type heat pump 1 has the connection pipe arrangements 50, 51 having closing valves 40, 41 controlling communication between a plurality of indoor units 3 and the outdoor unit 2, and it is provided with an operation mode recovering a refrigerant of the outdoor unit 2 in a receiver 14 or an outdoor heat exchanger 12 in closed states of the closing valves 40, 41, an operation mode completely opening indoor heat exchanger expansion valves 23 of all indoor units in opened states of the closing valves 40, 41, circulating the refrigerant in the same path as in cooling operation, and carrying out refrigerant evaporation by a waste heat recovery unit 15, and an operation mode completely closing the indoor heat exchanger expansion valves 23 of all indoor units 3 in opened states of the closing valves 40, 41, sucking in the refrigerant in the gas side connection pipe arrangement 51, and carrying out refrigerant evaporation by the waste heat recovery unit 15.
