PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector capable of displaying a setup guide video on a screen when power is supplied even if the projector is installed in such posture that the video is displayed out of the screen. SOLUTION: The projector is equipped with an optical modulation part 6 and a projection lens group 7 projecting modulated light to the screen S, and an imaging apparatus 10 picking up the video displayed on the screen S. In the projector, a coupled bright area comprising pixels constituting the video picked up by the imaging apparatus 10 and having a luminance value equal to or above a prescribed value is specified, and the modulated light related to the setup guide video is projected to a screen part corresponding to the specified coupled bright area.
