A parking assisting device comprises an imaging unit (1), a position-of-regard judging section (3, 11), a parking target position setting section (1, 11), and a parking assisting section (2). The imaging unit (1) images the area around a car. The position-of-regard judging section (3, 11) judges the driver's eye position of regard. The parking target position setting section sets a parking target position according to the image captured by the imaging unit (1) and the position of regard judged by the position-of-regard judging section (11). The parking assisting section (2) assists the driver to park the car at the parking target position.
