<p>Wave Energy Converter (WEC) consisting of rows of pipes with open ends plunged into the sea wherein the water level rises and falls with the waves thereby- creating a pressure and suction airflow in the pipes. The pipes communicate with integral pressure and suction main channels through pressure and suction valves. A PTO unit is placed between the main channels and exploits both the air pressure and suction at the same time to produce energy. The shape and placement of the pipes assures very little horizontal forces on the WEC and minimizes the loans on the WEC. The WEC has a V-shape or consists of one long arm and stretches over up to several wavelengths to increase stability in the sea. The WEC can be provided with pontoons to avoid tilting and can be anchored. An extra valve is placed on the main channels to control the depth of the WEC.</p> |
