METHOD FOR OBTAINING SPINEL CERAMIC PIGMENTS

The spinel ceramic pigments are used for colouring ceramic masses, glazes, enamels, glass, etc. They are prepared at low temperature, which saves fuel and improves the quality of pigments. According to the method, a water solution of a salt of the colouring ions - nitrates, chlorides or acetates of cobalt, iron, manganese or nickel - is added to a sol solution of aluminium nitrate. Gel is produced at pH of 8-9 (with ammonium hydroxide), which is dried, treated thermally at 800-1,000 degrees C and kept at the end temperature for 3 to 5 hours.
