PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an assay for identifying aβ-selectase inhibitor and a method for screening. SOLUTION: The assay for identifying theβ-selectase inhibitor comprises a step of immobilizing aβ-selectase protein on a solid support, a step of bringing theβ-selectase protein into contact with a test compound in the presence of a taggedβ-selectase inhibitor and a step of comparing the extent of binding of the taggedβ-selectase inhibitor between the presence and absence of the test compound in order to evaluate whether or not the test compound is theβ-selectase inhibitor. Furthermore, the method for screening theβ-selectase inhibitor, a newβ-selectase inhibitor, use thereof as the taggedβ-selectase inhibitor for identifying theβ-selectase inhibitor, a kit for identifying theβ-selectase inhibitor and a newβ-selectase inhibitor for use in treatment of Alzheimer's disease and other cerebrovascular amyloidosis are provided.
