BROADCAST PROGRAM RECORDING/PLAYING SYSTEM, PORTABLE TERMINAL AND VIDEO RECORDER

Diverse and flexible recording/playback of a broadcast program which has not been conventionally realized is made possible by closely combining the functions that a portable terminal and a video recorder have to greatly enhance the convenience of the user, and an environment in which the user can enjoy digital television broadcasts including the terrestrial digital broadcasts more comfortably. A portable terminal (1) capable of receiving a digital television broadcast and a video recorder (3) are interconnected through a communication network (2). Reception channel information and a recording start command are transmitted from the portable terminal (1) to the video recorder (3). The video recorder (3) acquires program information by using an electronic program guide (EPG) and records a program. The portable terminal (1) can send a storage command to inhibit erasure of the recorded program to the video recorder (3) if the video recorder (3) has a video server function. The program data played back by the video recorder (3) can be played back on the portable terminal (1).
