The machine (10) has a feeding unit (14) with a fuel cell system (16), and a beverage preparing unit (12) that is fed with water produced by a fuel cell (18) of the system. The preparing unit has a mixing device for mixing beverage concentrate with water, and a storage container (36) for collecting water produced by the fuel cell. The unit has an outputting device (52) for outputting beverage prepared by the unit, and a selecting device for selecting the beverage to be outputted through the outputting device. The fuel cell is a high-temperature polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cell. An independent claim is also included for a beverage vending machine system with a set of beverage preparing units.
