The device has a pin (13) provided in a jacket tube (3) and gripped through a passage opening of a lever (7), and a locking unit with an accommodation for the pin. The opening has a center section in which a center sleeve (15) intervenes. The sleeve is pressed with a preset axial force on the section to adjust a frictional torque between the tube and lever. The peripheral surface of the pin and an inner surface of the accommodation have profiles for forming a circular wedge connection, and the profiles are effectively connected by a relative rotation movement between the pin and accommodation. An independent claim is also included for a method for assembly of a device for connecting two components.
