REDUCED KEYBOARD DISAMBIGUATING SYSTEM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disambiguating system having a keyboard having the reduced number of keys. SOLUTION: A plurality of characters and signs are allocated to a set of data keys 56 so that a key stroke inputted by a user becomes ambiguous. An inputted key stroke sequence matches a large number of words with the same number of characters due to ambiguity in respective key strokes. A vocabulary module includes a library of objects respectively related to the key stroke sequence. The object in the vocabulary module matched with the inputted key stroke sequence is discriminated by a disambiguating system. The disambiguating system simultaneously interprets the inputted key stroke sequence as a two-stroke sequence or a plurality of stroke sequences as a word, and automatically and simultaneously provides a plurality of interpretations for the user in a selection list.
